As far as roosters are concerned a rooster provides protection, reduces stress and conflict within the flock, will even sacrifice himself to save one of them. He makes them feel safe.

I think having chickens is a wonderful idea as long as the number is limited to a reasonable number ( 6-8). Children learn valuable lessons from taking care of them, they eat up to 4 lbs of mosquitoes/ larvae a day each( great pest control!), they are clean, smart and provide a healthy breakfast ! They are easy to care for, inexpensive and go to bed before the sun is down. I’m all for it!

The issue is having chickens in a yard in Bossier City. NO! It only takes one neighbor with a smelly "chicken yard" to sour an entire block. There are other options outside of the city limits for chickens. And, roosters do not follow the sun-they CROW all day long sometimes just to aggravate. Let's be good neighbors and enjoy our gardens, yards, neighborhoods, and city.

You don’t know what you’re talking about. Do you currently know where the chickens and roosters in your neighborhood live? Obviously not because you would have a different opinion if you did.
