What are they building over there? How to access maps of construction and development in Bossier City and Parish
If you’re wondering what’s being built in your neighborhood, the City of Bossier City has a new tool you’ll find interesting.
On the City’s website, a public map portal has a development and construction tracker. The map tracks proposed and completed construction projects in the City and the Parish, with photos, time-to-completion estimates, and other details.
The tool allows you to search new private developments, city capital improvement projects, and even LADOTD roadway projects.
Our visit to the site revealed many details missing from major projects, such as the Jimmie Davis Bridge and the I-20 rehab, but the project map’s zoom-in feature is impressive.
Here’s an example showing the Canes Landing development.
How to access the tracker:
Visit bossiercity.org
Open the Departments menu
Select Public Map Portal
Choose Development and Construction Tracker
The map portal also has some other features you may find interesting, including:
A general reference map shows school districts, zone areas, government boundaries and trash pickup routes and days of collection.
A biodiversity map revealing plants and animals in your neighborhood. It appears you have to create an iNaturalist account to access it.
A zoning map that reveals the prevailing zoning laws for any property. You simply put in the address.
And a flood zone map.
A parks and recreation map under construction will show the city’s parks, playgrounds, and recreation facilities.
A new ‘blueprint’ for City and Parish growth to be developed
A new, comprehensive plan on how to manage the growth of Bossier City and Parish is soon to be underway.
The Bossier City-Parish Metropolitan Planning Commission is preparing to launch a major update of the Comprehensive Plan and Unified Development Code (UDC). The MPC says it will be “a major long-range blueprint for how our community will grow, develop, and thrive.”
Halff, a Shreveport-based infrastructure consulting firm, has been selected as the consulting partner to lead the effort.
“From neighborhoods to commercial corridors, housing to infrastructure, parks to mobility, this collaborative process will help shape Bossier’s next chapter — and community engagement will be essential every step of the way,” the MPC said.
The MPC will soon announce additional details, including opportunities for public input and a project timeline.
New Bossier City pickleball facility offers a sneak peek
If you’ve traveled in cities with a location, you may have seen the television commercials featuring Drew Brees promoting The Picklr. It’s a national chain of indoor pickleball courts, and a franchise location is set to launch in the Boardwalk soon.

The local development recently posted some photos on social media of the ongoing renovation to the facility it will occupy. The previews do not disappoint. The Picklr has a clean, modern aesthetic, with sound baffles above each court to dampen the sound for a better play experience. Locker rooms have showers with impeccable details in the tiling.
The Picklr promises to be a go-to facility for local players. No opening date has yet been announced.
