Weekend crash claims the life of 56-year-old woman
Sunday morning, around 4:30 am, Louisiana State Police Troop G responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 3 near Alden Bridge Loop. The crash claimed the life of Mary Sparks, 56, of Shreveport.
LSP's investigation revealed that a 2013 Chevrolet Cruze, driven by Sparks, was traveling north on Highway 3. A 2011 Peterbilt 386 was traveling south on the highway. For reasons still under investigation, the Chevrolet crossed the centerline and collided with the Peterbilt.
Sparks, who was properly restrained at the time of the crash, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Peterbilt, who was properly restrained, sustained moderate injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Impairment on the part of Sparks is not suspected; however, standard toxicology samples were collected and submitted for analysis.
The crash remains under investigation.

Lane closures: Airline Drive at the I-20 interchange
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists that beginning today, Tuesday, September 2, 2025, there will be intermittent outside (right) lane closures on Airline Drive at the I-20 interchange in Bossier City.
These intermittent lane closures are necessary to allow the contractor for the ongoing I-20 major rehabilitation project to conduct work tying the newly built on and off-ramps into the roadway, as well as perform roadway maintenance work on Airline Drive at this location.
The lane closures will be in place while work is being conducted over the next two months. The closures will be lifted as much as possible while no work is taking place to help alleviate congestion.
Barksdale Blvd off-ramp reopens, Benton Road off-ramp closes
Meanwhile, DOTD also says that the I-20 eastbound off-ramp to Barksdale Blvd has reopened to traffic following its full reconstruction.
The I-20 eastbound off-ramp to Benton Road will close today, Tuesday, September 2, 2025.

BPCC announces graduates for the summer 2025 semester
Bossier Parish Community College has announced its summer semester graduates. In total, 215 graduates received 244 credentials.
BPCC also announced students named to the Chancellor’s and Dean’s lists for the summer semester.
