A 105-acre truck stop travel center as part of a 272-acre mixed-use development in Haughton has Bossier Parish Police Jurors concerned about worsening traffic issues.
Grand Cypress Development said the truck stop portion of the plan will be bordered on the south by I-20, the west by LA Highway 157, and on the north by US Highway 80. Three entrances to the travel center will eventually be built.
Gary Clark with the Civil Design Group said three entrances have been approved by LADOTD.
"The first one, of course, is this one here on the south end. That's a full service access," Clark told the jurors. "As the development progresses, there would be a second entrance on 157 here. It also would be a full service access, so it would have left turn lanes and right turn lanes as well. As you progress and he starts working on the second phase of the development along Highway 80, we have three entrances that are approved."
Jurors were puzzled by the lack of a stop light on Covington Road or a light at the entrance to the truck stop.
