New North Bossier homes likely to trigger additional complaints against neighboring school
A proposed new homes development in North Bossier is likely to trigger additional complaints as a neighboring school continues to grow. At least, the school thinks so.
Representatives of the Providence Classical Academy on Old Brownlee Road appeared before the Bossier Parish Police Jury Wednesday, not to oppose the new housing, to be known as Brownlee Cove, but to express “concern.” The development will be built on the land between the school and the Crossing at Wemple.
“So we’re a school right beside this property, and we’re not against this property being developed. We’re for it,” Howard Davis, head of the Providence Classical Academy, told jurors. “But we are concerned because we’re gonna have baseball and softball fields right on the back of that property. And I don’t know if there’s any kind of consideration for how noise, lights — you know, baseballs, for instance — would affect this property because our property has already been approved. We’ve already developed $2 million into it. We’re about to put several more million dollars in development of these fields.”
Davis suggested the developers could include a “buyer beware clause” in sales contracts.
Ryan Estes, of Raley & Associates, is developing the property for the owner and said an eight-foot board fence and some detention ponds would help separate the properties.
Yet, Wayne Patton director of operations with Providence, noted that the school has already received complaints, and the new residential development hasn’t even broken ground.
“Before we could do the ball field work, we had to clear the trees and do the dirt work. Our phones did not stop ringing about the dust that’s being kicked up ‘giving my kids asthma.’ ‘The burning of this tree is creating this problem,’” Patton said. “And that’s from the subdivision one more road north of this [new] one. [Which] will be even closer than the one that’s been calling.”
Patton reiterated the school’s support of the new residences, “but we just don’t wanna have to field the man hours of the complaints when it’s not only the fence or the balls going over the fence, but the lights — there will be night games, and the lights are on at night and there’s a PA system and all of that. So all we’re wanting to do is not object, but just make sure that somebody’s hearing that concern on the front end.”
The Bossier Parish Police Jury will hold a public hearing on the development on November 19.
Suspect in Willow Lake residential burglary caught on camera using stolen checks
A suspect involved in a residential burglary was caught on surveillance video using the victim’s stolen checks at local retailers.
Now those images may lead to the suspect’s capture.
The Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office says the residential burglary occurred on September 20, 2025.
“The incident took place when the suspect pulled into the victim’s driveway and entered the victim’s garage in the Willow Lake Subdivision. Once inside, the suspect gained access to the victim’s vehicle and stole a purse containing blank checks, cash, credit cards, and a driver’s license,” BPSO said in a release.
Following the theft, the suspect reportedly used the victim’s stolen checks to make purchases at multiple retail locations. The suspect was last seen leaving the area in a white Chevrolet Cruze with no visible license plate.
Investigators are actively working to identify the suspect and locate the vehicle.
Anyone with information about this incident or the identity of this person is urged to contact Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Detectives at (318) 965-3418, Bossier Sheriff’s Dispatch at (318) 965-2203, or Bossier Crime Stoppers at (318) 424-4100.
