It's back to school in Bossier Parish this week
"Fill the Bus" events were held this weekend to gather donations of school supplies for students in Bossier Parish. Bossier Schools and the United Way of Northwest Louisiana hosted the events, which resulted in a storage room full of supplies donated by the community and unloaded by volunteers.
"Every notebook, pen and binder helps ensure that all students in Bossier Parish start the first day of school ready to learn," Bossier Schools said in a social media post.
The first day of school in Bossier Parish is Thursday for grades 1 through 12. Thursday, August 14, is the first day of school for students attending kindergarten. August 21 is the first day for pre-K kids.

The newly relocated Bossier Schools Parent Center is now open at 2723 Airline Drive, tucked right behind the Bossier Instructional Center. This warm and welcoming space provides tools, support, and resources designed to help students thrive.
A teacher In-service will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday, with no students at schools.

Two Bossier Parish men die in three-vehicle crash
On Friday, August 1, 2025, at approximately 10:40 pm, troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop G responded to a three-vehicle crash on Highway 80 near Barbeque Road. The crash claimed the lives of 50-year-old Brian Frost and 45-year-old Kendrick Fisher, both of Haughton.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2017 GMC Yukon, driven by Frost, was traveling west in the eastbound lane of Highway 80. At the same time, a 2024 Kia Forte, driven by Fisher, and a 2016 Dodge Charger were both traveling east on Highway 80. For reasons still under investigation, the GMC collided head-on with the Kia and overturned, causing the Kia to then collide with the Dodge.
Frost, who was properly restrained at the time of the crash, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Fisher, who was properly restrained, sustained fatal injuries and was also pronounced deceased at the scene. A passenger in the Kia, who was properly restrained, sustained severe injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The driver of the Dodge, who was properly restrained, sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Toxicology samples were taken and submitted for analysis.
This crash remains under investigation.
