Lainey Wilson brings her Whirlwind World Tour to Bossier City this Saturday
There's nobody hotter in country music right now. Fresh off six Country Music Award nominations announced just yesterday, including Entertainer of the Year and Single of the Year, Lainey Wilson rolls into Bossier City Saturday with her Whirlwind World Tour at the Brookshire Grocery Arena.
And with her hometown of Baskin less than 150 miles from Bossier, we’ll go ahead and claim her as a local.
It's been a whirlwind year of accolades — including a Grand Ole Opry induction, a CMA co-hosting gig, and the release of her critically acclaimed album Whirlwind — Wilson is riding a wave of momentum that’s sweeping across the globe. Her chart-topping hits like 4x4xU, Watermelon Moonshine and Heart Like A Truck have cemented her place as one of country’s most dynamic voices.
Joining her on stage will be special guests ERNEST and rising star Maddox Batson. With a nearly sold-out tour and a reputation for electrifying live performances, Wilson’s stop in Bossier is expected to draw fans from across the region.
Tickets are still available. Saturday, September 13, 2025, Doors open at 6:00 pm, the show starts at 7:00 pm.
No tax on the agenda at Wednesday's Bossier City Council meeting, but local businessman urges attendance
The Bossier City Council was originally scheduled to vote on a property tax increase at this week's meeting. That ordinance, sponsored by Mayor Tommy Chandler, was unanimously defeated by the council last month.
Nevertheless, a local businessman is urging citizens to attend the council meeting.
Bill Alley of Landmark Realty has been front-and-center at recent council meetings due to a sweeping increase to a public works fee imposed on apartment complexes. Now, Alley is asking Bossier City citizens to attend Wednesday's city council meeting (rescheduled from Tuesday) — but not to discuss fees or taxes, but to thank the council for its transparency.
"We need everyone to attend this meeting Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at 3 pm if possible, at the Bossier Council chambers," Alley said. "Please encourage everyone you can to attend this meeting. We want to fill the Council Chambers with standing room only to say thank you to the seven City Council members for bringing transparency to our City Government."
Since there will be no taxes or fees for the Council to consider at the meeting, Alley says citizens are simply being asked to show support for the new Council's direction. And to encourage the Chandler administration to be fiscally conservative.
"We want to send Mayor Chandler a strong message: 'No more increases' in Taxes, Sanitation, Beautification, EMS Fees or Water Bills. As we all live within our means, the Mayor and his administration need to do the same thing. Again, we want to say thank you to the seven Council Members and send the Mayor a loud and clear message, no more increases," Alley added.

Bossier law enforcement encourages neighborhoods to celebrate National Night Out in October
The Bossier City Police Department, the Bossier City Fire Department, the Bossier City Marshal’s Office, and the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office are inviting neighborhoods across the community to participate in National Night Out.
This year's event, designed to heighten crime prevention awareness and strengthen police-community relations, will be held on October 7, 2025, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
"We believe that strong relationships between law enforcement and the community are key to making our city a safe place for everyone," said Police Chief Daniel Haugen. "We look forward to
seeing our neighbors and working together to build an even stronger community."
"National Night Out is the perfect chance for residents to connect with the men and women who serve their community every day," Sheriff Julian Whittington said. "These face-to-face conversations help build lasting relationships between law enforcement and the families they serve.”
Neighborhoods and local community organizations are encouraged to host block parties, cookouts, and special events. During the event, police officers and other first responders will visit registered events to meet residents and participate in the festivities. For more information about National Night Out in Bossier Parish, or how your neighborhood can get involved, contact the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office at (318) 965-3553.
