Dak Prescott returns home for the dedication of Prescott Field at Haughton High
Haughton High School is rolling out the red carpet for one of its most celebrated alumni. Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott will return to his hometown alma mater on Thursday, November 6, for a special dedication ceremony naming the school’s football field in his honor — Prescott Field at Harlan Stadium.
The event will begin at 6:00 pm., and the community is invited to attend as Haughton High pays tribute to Prescott’s enduring support and remarkable contributions to Buccaneer athletics and the greater Haughton community.
Details:
When: Thursday, November 6, at 6:00 p.m.
Where: Harlan Stadium on Prescott Field, Haughton High School
Admission: $5 general admission
Bossier Schools employees: Free admission with employee ID (employee only)
Tickets may be purchased online here.
In addition to the field dedication and ceremony, organizers have planned a special drawing for school-age students — one lucky attendee will win a football personally autographed by Dak Prescott.
Prescott’s return to Haughton underscores the deep bond between the NFL star and the community that helped shape him. From his days leading the Haughton Buccaneers to his rise as a national football icon, Prescott has remained vocal about his roots in Northwest Louisiana and his passion for giving back.
Prescott has hosted youth football camps, donated sports equipment and uniforms, purchased school supplies and sponsored athletic events. Before the 2025 football season kicked off, Prescott gifted more than a million dollars to the school to construct the largest video scoreboard of its kind in Louisiana and to revamp the school’s weight room.
The dedication of Prescott Field stands as a lasting reminder of Prescott’s contributions and local connection — and an inspiration to young athletes who dream of following in his footsteps.

City Council searches for interim meeting space during chambers renovation
Bossier City leaders are seeking a temporary meeting space while City Council chambers are renovated.
The December 16th council meeting will be the last meeting in chambers until the project is complete in April. The space, located within City Hall, is home not only to City Council meetings but also to the Administrative Council — which deals with abandoned and dilapidated properties — as well as the Fire & Police Civil Service Board, and the Metropolitan Planning Commission and its subcommittee, the Board of Adjustment.
Preliminary demolition work will begin in mid-December, with the full project underway by January 5th.
Infrastructure committee chair Brian Hammons described the improvements:
“The audiovisual systems will be upgraded. The sound — we’ll have TVs on both sides [of the dais] for people to see what is going on here in the council chambers, just kind of bringing it up to date with everything because a lot more people do watch this at home, being live streamed,” he said.
