Bossier City weekend: Dogs dive, the Makers Fair, Ladies’ Fortune on the Felt and more
It will be a busy free-time weekend in Bossier City. The toughest part? Deciding where to go and when.
The Boardwalk will be at the center of it all. In addition to the periodic Makers Fair being onsite, there will also be a Pet Palooza and a dog Dock Diving championship.
From 11 am until 2 pm Saturday, enjoy the Super Retriever Series Dock Diving behind Bass Pro Shops. You’ll see retriever dogs and their handlers compete in fun and amazing aquatic jumping and speed events. Free admission.
You can also browse the Pet Palooza at the Boardwalk. Shop with local pet vendors, and meet local animal rescues with on-site pet adoptions. There will also be free rabies vaccines and a PAW-some Pairs Costume Contest — you and your dog dress up as your favorite dynamic duo for a chance to win prizes.
The Bossier City Makers Fair adds to the day’s Boardwalk fun with 150 handmade makers and vendors from 11 am to 6 pm.
The event features a large, all-handcrafted fair showcasing artisans selling a wide range of items, including canvas and multimedia art, stained glass, canning, jewelry, knitting, fruits and vegetables, salsa, upcycled furniture, artisan soap, pies and cookies, signs, food, candles, and pottery.
There will also be food trucks, face painting, bubbles, balloons, music, and games in a family-friendly environment.
Then it’s time to rush over to the East Bank District to Wake & Shake the Dead! The SBC Zombie is ready to Rattle Some Bones at this year’s 2025 SBC Zombie Walk: Bone Bash from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
The Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana will once again collect canned food donations as part of its mission to Fight Hunger in Northwest Louisiana. LifeShare Blood Center will be on-site collecting blood donations, and Shriners Children’s Shreveport will be collecting donations towards their spinal care program.
All of your Freaky Favorites of the Zombie Walk are back, including the Macabre Vendor Market, zombie costume contests, door prizes, live music, games, food trucks, and much more — including children’s entertainment and activities.

Election for BPPJ District 7 seat is Saturday, October 11
Just over 350 voters cast their ballots in early voting for the Bossier Parish Police Jury District 7 seat. Saturday, the rest of the district will have an opportunity to express their preference.
The race is filling the seat of Bob Brotherton, who died in January. Kim Gaspard was temporarily appointed to the seat until the election.
Lynn C. Beaty of Haughton and Brent Moreland of Elm Grove will be on the ballot.
On his Facebook campaign page, Beaty describes himself as “Christian, conservative, Republican.”
“I have lived and worked in Bossier Parish my entire life and have many friends and family here,” Beaty says in a post. “After graduating from Louisiana Tech in 1975, I started a logging and construction business. Since then, we have completed hundreds of road, utility and drainage projects. This gives me a real world, hands-on insight into all of the projects the Police Jury builds and regulates. I strongly believe in the 2nd Amendment, less taxes and eliminating wasteful spending.”
Moreland’s social media says he is an International Representative at IBEW. Moreland qualified as a Republican.
“As your candidate for Bossier Parish Police Jury, District 1, I’m committed to upholding the principles that make our parish and our nation strong — accountability, service, and a fresh start for local leadership.”
