Haughton High grad heading to Nashville, thanks Bossier Schools teachers
Meet Kylie Small, a proud member of the Class of 2025, who's headed to Nashville to chase her dreams.
From classroom opportunities to community support, Kylie says the many opportunities offered at Bossier Schools played a major role in shaping her future — and she’s just getting started.
"I have gone through some incredible teachers who have taught me so much and my current teacher, Mr. John Calvin Johnson is one of the best that I've had," Small says in a video produced by Bossier Schools. "He's grown me so much in the guitar and vocals and my songwriting and I just appreciate TAP and everything that he has offered me. My teachers have always seen me, of course as a student, but they saw me as so much more than that."
Public notice: City Council to hold workshop on public works fees
Mayor Tommy Chandler said the sanitation fee increase to apartment complexes is "not going away." City Council President Chris Smith told BossierNow, "The property owners should have been paying this fee for years prior." It seemed that the matter, which raised the ire of apartment owners and managers in Bossier City, was resolved.
Apparently not.
The City Council has scheduled a workshop on public works fees at 5:30 pm on Monday, July 28, 2025, at City Council Chambers in Bossier City Hall.
The Chandler administration will present an update on the public works fee increases to apartment complexes in the city, and council members and the mayor will hear comments and answer questions.
The public comment period will allow three minutes per person with a discussion lasting up to 45 minutes.
New walking trail coming to South Bossier Park
The Bossier Parish Parks and Recreation Department has begun a major upgrade at South Bossier Park, temporarily closing a portion of the park to make way for a brand-new feature.
Last week, surveyors marked the path for a new one-mile walking trail that will wind through one of the park’s most active areas. This scenic trail will be situated just inside the gated section of the park, providing residents with another opportunity to enjoy the outdoors.
To ensure the safety of visitors during construction, the baseball and softball fields, along with the playground, will be closed for the duration of the project. However, the football, soccer, and lacrosse fields will remain open and accessible to teams and the public.
The walking trail is expected to be completed within six weeks, bringing an exciting new addition to the park.
“This new walking trail will be a great addition,” said Keith Sutton, District 12 Police Juror. “South Bossier Park is already one of the busiest recreational areas in the parish. It gives families, athletes, and visitors another reason to enjoy the outdoors and stay active. We’re excited to see it come to life.”
The trail will also support cross-country events, which are regularly hosted at the park, further enhancing its role as a hub for regional athletic competitions.
