BCPD SWAT responds to a domestic violence call at Bossier City apartment complex
One man is dead, and two officers of the Bossier City Police Department suffered injuries during a domestic violence incident Sunday afternoon.
BCPD was called to a welfare check at the Villaggio apartments at approximately 12:30 pm Sunday after receiving information from concerned family members. Upon arrival, officers discovered the subject had barricaded himself inside the residence.
Shots were fired, and the Louisiana State Police were later called to investigate the scene. LSP says that when the BCPD officers encountered an armed subject, two officers were shot, sustaining what were characterized as non-life-threatening injuries.
"The subject was critically injured by what is believed to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound," LSP's trooper Eddie Thomas said. "Anyone with information and/or pictures and video is urged to share that information with LSP Detectives."
I-20 reconstruction: Nighttime lane/ramp closure
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists that, as work continues to progress on the I-20 major rehabilitation project, an upcoming nighttime lane and ramp closure will be necessary.
Beginning on the night of Tuesday, September 16, 2025, the inside (left) lane of I-20 westbound from near the Common St/Line Ave. interchange (Exit 18D) to the I-49 interchange (17A) in Shreveport will be closed.
Additionally, the on-ramp from US 71 (Market Street) northbound to I-20 westbound will be closed. (see included map)
Both of these closures will take place from approximately 7:00 pm to 6:00 am each night for one month, and are necessary to allow the contractor to safely and efficiently perform concrete pavement repairs along this section of the interstate as part of the ongoing I-20 rehab project.
Alternate route: Motorists wishing to access I-20 westbound from Market Street will be detoured down LA 1 (Youree Dr) southbound to the crossover near Earnest’s Orleans Restaurant, to LA 1 (Youree Dr) northbound and back to I-20 westbound.
