97-year-old Bossier Parish woman's home of 65 years destroyed in fire
Early Friday morning, around 1:30 am, Bossier Parish Fire District #7 was dispatched to a structure fire in the 100 block of Monrovia Avenue in Plain Dealing.
Northeast Fire District #5 was dispatched for mutual aid.
Upon arrival, responders found a single-family home completely involved, with a car and truck also burning in the driveway. The home was located less than 10 feet from a neighboring home, which was also burning on the exterior.
All residents had successfully exited the homes without injuries. Firefighters launched a defensive attack to prevent the fire from spreading to the neighboring home, which suffered fire and smoke damage to the wall of one room closest to the fire.
Unfortunately, the first home, owned and occupied by a 97-year-old female and her two sons, was a total loss, including both vehicles.
She said that she had owned the home for approximately 65 years, and all they had left were the clothes they were wearing.
A GoFundMe has been established for donations.
