New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees is one of the most revered residents of our state. He lives to a high standard of family values, sportsmanship and leadership — and is an astute businessman.
In addition to his co-ownership in Jimmy Johns Gourmet Sandwiches and Walk-On’s Bistreaux & Bar, two businesses with locations in Bossier City, Brees is soon to launch another venture in our area: a Surge Entertainment Center.
Bossier City should make sure it is being considered for Brees’ next big win.
There are 11 Surge locations throughout the South — one opened last weekend in Lafayette and another has broken ground in West Monroe. News coverage of the new Lafayette location said that Brees and his business partners had plans to bring a Surge location “to Shreveport” by the end of next year.
The massive centers — the Lafayette location sprawls over 43,000 feet — feature trampoline parks, bowling lanes, golf simulators, private karaoke rooms, a restaurant and bar and more.
“I know this — my wife, Brittany, and I have four kids,” Brees told the Acadiana Advocate in October. “I think it’s challenging at times to go out and eat and find a place that you know is going to cater to your kids, as well. We wanted to build something that was really fun for the entire family, has great food and has a great environment. It has something that everyone can do at the same time in one location.”
BossierNow could find no evidence that a location in Shreveport has yet been chosen. If that’s the case, let’s make sure “Shreveport” in this case really means “Bossier City.”
Let’s make sure the Brees Team knows that Bossier City would love to be the home of his next Surge family entertainment center. Sign this petition. Meanwhile, maybe our City and Parish leaders — or future leaders — can come up with property, land or other incentives to further spur the Brees investment in Bossier City.
Let’s win this one.
